It's monsoon. And we all know, it's a real pain to keep our cars fresh and clean in this season. No matter how much you clean, it will grab dirt and will smell bad. Sometimes due to humidity, the interior becomes a mess.
So, here comes a few tips to maintain your car this monsoon and keep it fresh and clean.
1. We all have a hose pipe in our house. Everyday, after returning home, just grab a hose-pipe and give your car's body a quick shower. And by underbody, we mean wheels, side skirts, below the front and rear bumper and mud-guards. This will help you in the long run.
2. Once in a week, wash your car with soap and wax it to let the rain drops drip by swiftly. Ok it seems a little too rhyming.
3. We have all noticed that, windshields fog up too much in the monsoon and sometimes it's really irritating. Ok, we have solution for that. Either use RainX.
Or if you want to do it in a cheaper way, get some toothpaste and gently apply on all the glasses. Keep it for sometime and then buff out with a wet towel and wash it off. This treatment is good once in two weeks. And then wax your glasses.
4. Wash your windshield and wax it once in every two days or as and when required, because a dirty windshield is not only an eyesore but also hazardous. Clean your wipers every week with soapy water.
5. Wash your headlights and tail-lights once it is dirty. Clean head-lights doesn't only make your car look good, but it also helps in increasing the view and accessibility during monsoon nights.
6. Keep an air-freshener in your car. And even though it's monsoon, sometimes it is sunny. Open all the doors and windows and keep it under the sun for like half-n hour. It helps in keeping your interior fresh.
7. Use a paper (Old newspaper) or cardboards over your foot-mats. It reduces the hassle of cleaning the mats everytime. If it's muddy, the paper will handle it. Just remove the paper when it gets dirty and get in new ones. An you are good to go. No bad smell, no hassle.
8. Everyone has some sort of oil in the house. Take some of it in a container and spray in under the hood and fendors once in the monsoon to prevent rust.
9. Also, get your cars underbody treatment ( Under-body Coating ) done before the monsoon starts to keep your car safe from rusts and other harmful things.
10. After driving through water-logged streets or heavy rain, please keep your car running for like 10 minutes when you reach home. What it will do is, it will dry the machineries which are meant to stay dry.
Maintain these and you are good to go.
Take care, do whatever you want and see you in the next blog.
