Hi People, am back with a new topic. Till Now, what I’ve blogged on is all about cleaning and polishing vehicles. Today, let’s talk about something else.
So, coming to the topic, today I’m gonna talk about the top 10 mistakes car owners make, some of which not only lessens the life of a vehicle, but are also dangerous for the car owners.
Mistake No. 1 : I have seen people, who get in their car, start their engine and drives off right away.
You shouldn’t do that. It’s actually not good for the engine. You should give the engine some time to come to life. What you should do is, get in your car, start your engine, stall for about 15-20 seconds, and then drive away. That gives the car the optimum time to start-up. In cold weather, the oil becomes more thick, so give your car some 30 seconds to start up.
Mistake No. 2 : The second mistake I’ve noticed is, people start up their car, drives away and start revving the engine, or push it too hard. It’s worse for the engine. Don’t push the car too hard until it’s warmed up to the optimum temperature. Drive gently and steadily. Otherwise, your piston rings may crack. Obviously, you should do that in some emergency situations, but otherwise refrain from this. And in anyway, if you are not in much hurry, keep your engines RPM within some 3000 range, to get the best fuel economy and longstivity of the vehicle.
Mistake No. 3 : I have noticed many people don’t use the recommended fuel. The cars which recommend Unleaded Fuel, should be filled with unleaded fuel only and not any Premium fuel. And the car which recommends Premium must be filled with Premium only. If you don’t use the recommended one, it would affect your fuel economy and eventually it may also affect your engine.
Mistake No. 4 : Engine Oil replacement should be done timely. Check user’s manual to know, how long your engine oil will stay fine and how many miles you can drive, before the next engine oil replacement. Long gone those days for 5000 kilometres intervals. The new synthetic fuels can run upto 15,000 km befoe replacement. Keep your engine oil under notice to maintain a safe and secure journey everytime.
Mistake No. 5 : People don’t maintain optimum tyre pressure. Do check, the door jam of the drivers side to know the recommended tyre pressure and inflate your tyre every week to maintain the optimum pressure. It not only secures you, but also increases fuel economy.
Mistake No. 6 : People often don’t inspect their car before driving off. Do inspect your car before starting your journey. A quick check can save you your precious life and some valuable time in the long run. Do check your engine oil, coolant, windshield wiper fluid, tyre pressure, brake fluid, steering oil fluid, car horn and other lights to ensure, they are all upto the optimum limit and are working fine.
Mistake No. 7 : People don’t check the condition of their tyre. Nothing is as dangerous as a worn out tyre. Check the tyre regularly, see if there’s any chip or crack. The tyre may look ok at a glance, but on a closer look, you will find out the faults and damages. And a bonus point to note. Always check your spare tyre in aa regular interval and ensure it is well inflated.
Mistake No. 8 : I have seen many people, who wash their car with paper towel or some kind of rags or old tshirts. It’s not done. The only thing which should touch your cars paintjob is a soft and clean micro-fiber towel. And always use some kind of lubricant, preferably a quick detailer or some kind of high foam car wash gel.
Mistake No. 9 : People never pay a heed to read the owner’s manual. Never do this blunder. You should know, what each and every dial and gauge means, and what every button functions in your car.
Mistake No. 10 : Get your car timely checked-up and serviced in the authorized workshop of your cars brand. It will not only keep your car in a good condition, but will also ensure, you don’t void the warranty of your car. After all these a bonus point for you all : Modification is something which you can’t avoid. But, stay in your limits and check your Motor Vehicles Policy before modifying your car to avoid harassment later on. And moreover, getting your car under the gas cutter for modifications on body, will void your warranty. This much today. See you in the next blog. Stay tuned for updates.
